5月5日,全球最大的视频分享平台YouTube正面临着一项严峻挑战:在提供多样化娱乐内容的同时,如何有效保护未成年人免受不当信息的侵害。这一问题 recently gained attention after a latest investigative report by《连线》magazine revealed a disturbing trend, sparking widespread public concern over the safety of children’s content on YouTube.
Reportedly, certain YouTube channels targeting children are exploiting the convenience of advanced AI technology to generate unsettling video content. For instance, the channel “Go Cat” appears to feature charming characters and cheerful settings that would appeal to kids, but beneath this seemingly harmless facade lies disturbing material. These videos reinterpret beloved animated figures such as minions and Thomas & Friends using AI technology, transforming them into eerie and frightening forms. Shocking scenes include minions being dissolved by nuclear waste into grotesque sewer creatures and a cute cat witnessing the violent demise of its parents.
Despite YouTube’s stated commitment to enforcing community guidelines that prohibit inappropriate content for children, the platform’s ability to consistently uphold these standards remains questionable. With the rapid advancement of AI video generation technology, even if a problematic channel is banned or loses ad revenue, its creators can easily establish new channels and continue posting similar content. Furthermore, while these videos may gain significant views, suspicious bot comments in their comment sections suggest that their popularity might be artificially inflated, possibly enabling these channels to persist despite repeated attempts to shut them down.
Experts recommend that parents should take a more proactive role in monitoring their children’s media consumption to ensure they are exposed only to age-appropriate content. Additionally, when encountering clearly unsuitable videos, parents should make full use of reporting tools so the platform can promptly review and address such violations.
